I do not agree with how inter-sexuals are regarded from a social point of view. However, what is worse is the way they are treated from a religious point of view. How can people who profess to love the Lord, be so one sided in their way of thinking? Especially to someone who wants to come to church? When you think of religion, you think of God. God is many things. He is loving, forgiving, and he is accepting. With that said, I don’t understand how a person can be so judgmental of another person. The bible clearly states and we are taught in church to welcome new Christians, to help them learn the word of the Lord and meet fellow Christians. Now, if a inter-sex person is allowed into a church, they are accepted and welcome with open arms. However, they are taught through the messages that the Pastor delivers, that being an inter-sex person, a homosexual or being with the same sex is sinful. This is so wrong. Everyone should have the freedom of choice without consequences. Although, when it comes to an inter-sex person, it’s was not a choice that they made.
Social attitudes towards inter sexuals are narrow minded and prejudiced. In terms of religion, the attitude that an inter sexual is to expected to stay away from the church and give up their freedom to choose religion is unjustifiable. It’s not God who looks down on inter-sex people as God has taught us that it isn‘t right to judge others. Only He can judge and that will be on the day when we are standing before him accounting for our sins. Unfortunately, there are some people of faith that are one’s that cast judgment on inter-sexuals when it comes to having their freedom to choose religion. Everyone has the right to the freedom of religious choices. However, inter-sexuals do not have that liberty, which is sad. It is because of this way of thinking, and many more biased reactions to the inter sex community that has caused the inter-sexed person to carry this stigma upon them. Inter sexuals are bombarded with social stigmas because they don’t fit the conventional expectations of gender identity. They have a right to becoming a Christian and knowing the love of the Lord. They should not be forced to live a secular life when this is not what they want to do.
Inter-sexuals did not ask to be born this way. They did not ask to be judged and ridiculed the way that they are. There is no justification for the way that they are treated and there is not an excuse for the bias that they suffer. They just want to live their lives like everyone else. They want the freedom to go to church, become a Christian, and know the Lord. They want to enjoy life the same way that a heterosexual person does. I don’t think that is too much to ask. People are just people. I do not understand why people have to have everything fit into a nice, neat box? When things don’t fit in that box, that’s when people panic and start with their attitude. That’s when everything starts to fall apart for the group of people that society deems as different.
